The whole world is feeling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. As runners, our races have been canceled and our group runs put on hold. Now running solo is the new norm. BUT we can combine our efforts to meet one epic goal: run a 21,713 mile tour of the world as a relay.
We are “starting” in Atlanta, our home base, and heading West to Los Angeles, then Tokyo, Seoul, Ur-Sultan, Moscow, Kyiv, Prague, Frankfurt, Paris, Lisbon and finally back to Atlanta. Each day we will update our progress to see where we are on the map.
This virtual relay is for every runner no matter your distance or pace. Every mile counts towards our goal! You can complete your miles on a treadmill at home, running loops around your home, running on roads or trails (while practicing safe social distancing) or however you are creatively getting your miles in
Why join us? Even though running is an individual sport, the running community is a BIG reason why so many people are runners. When we are forced to run alone, it can be tough to find the motivation. Joining the #rnnraroundtheworld challenge allows you be a part of a virtual running community that is cheering you on every day.
Help us reach the goal by doing the following:
1. Run safely. Practice social distancing if running outside, run on the treadmill if you can’t get outdoors, and don’t run if you are sick.
2. Use the hashtag #rnnraroundtheworld to tell us how many miles you ran during the day.
3. Tag your running partner and your friends so they can join in the challenge and help us reach the goal.
4. Everyday at 12:30 EST a mileage update will be posted on Instagram @rnnr.co.
